We use a ‘special technique’ to reduce the chances of post
lasik ectasia. In layman’s terminology, this post lasik
ectasia is a rare but possible complication that occurs in a
few patients who undergo LASIK, where the number comes back.
This special technique that we use is unique with us in that
it leaves maximum amount of cornea behind leading to greater
stability of the eye for life. It has also been reported in
the world literature that the vision and contrast
sensitivity at night is better with this technique than
standard LASIK techniques. We would be happy to share this

There are
3 ways in which LASIK can be performed with us:
1.
Standard LASIK:
Involves the
use of standard protocols and eye parameters. The eye number
is fed into the laser machine and the laser is delivered
onto the eye in a standard manner..
2.
Custom/Tailor made LASIK:
involves
taking some extra measurements of the eye. This methodology
involves using combinations of various methodologies
including wavefront treatment, special laser softwares and
use of special disposable items during the LASIK procedure.
Important:
The choice between the above two depends upon the eye
examination findings and the cost difference between the two
methods.
3.
Femtosecond LASIK/Intra Lase/Bladeless LASIK:
This is the latest modification in the LASIK technique. It
is a well tried technique (American FDA approved), where a
laser is used to fashion the flap instead of using a micro
keratome as in standard technique. The rest of the laser
procedure is the same as the standard LASIK. The same laser
is used in all the 3 techniques. This additional Femtosecond
step makes the flap in a more cleaner and predictable
manner. However, because of the cost of the equipment, this
LASIK is about 2-3 times more expensive than the standard
and customised LASIK.
